Tendonitis

Tendonitis is often a wear-and-tear condition in which the tendon becomes over-utilized and inflamed.  Ankle tendonitis is a painful condition that often occurs with increased usage and especially after physical activity. Early treatment of tendonitis can reduce long-term damage to the tendons and decrease the duration of pain.

Options for early treatment may include rest, ice, elevation, topical treatment, physical therapy or anti-inflammatory medications while more advanced treatments may involve taping, bracing, orthotic support or walking boots. Longstanding and chronic tendon damage may require evaluation with MRI and, possibly, surgical repair of the tendon. We offer minimally invasive tendon repair when this is a viable option.
